Teles Pires HPP takes its name from the river where it was built, and is located on the border of the states of Mato Grosso and Pará. Its installed capacity is 1,820 MW and had the basic, civil executive and electromechanical designs developed by Intertechne for Companhia Hidrelétrica Teles Pires S/A.

With the production of enough energy to supply 4.5 million people, Teles Pires has become one of the most efficient hydroelectric power plants in the country. The enterprise started to be built in 2011 and went into operation in 2015.
