CHALLENGE
Internationally recognized with the International Milestone Rockfill Dam Project Award, Chaglla HPP is located on the Huallaga River, in Peru. The plant has an installed capacity of 450 MW and its construction took place between the years 2012 to 2017.
The contracting party, Empresa de Generación Huallaga S.A., asked Intertechne for a complete and complex scope, containing basic design, detail engineering of civil works, electromechanical auxiliary systems and substation, technical assistance to the work and geological-geotechnical map.
Chaglla is the third largest hydroelectric power plant in Peru and generates 4% of the country’s electric power production. Its differential is in the spillway where the water passes through tunnels inside the mountains until they are released by the open floodgates.
