Intertechne Signs Contract to Support the UFN-III Project

Intertechne has been awarded a contract for the Unit III Nitrogen Fertilizer Plant (UFN-III) in Três Lagoas, Mato Grosso do Sul, Brazil. The scope covers the completion, adaptation and consolidation of the detailed engineering design, encompassing several utility systems associated with the project’s infrastructure.

The scope includes water intake and treatment systems, a cooling tower, effluent treatment, service and instrument air, firewater pumping and chemical storage, as well as the LCR-2 Local Control Room, the SE-38252 electrical substation and the effluent pipeline.

To execute the contract, Intertechne will mobilize an average team of 30 professionals over an 18-month period, bringing together specialists from different engineering disciplines.

A Multidisciplinary Approach

The complexity of the project requires the integration of multiple disciplines and areas of expertise. Intertechne’s team will include professionals in Civil Engineering, Geotechnical Engineering, Foundations, Architecture, Concrete Structures, Steel Structures, Drainage and Site Development, Piping, Mechanical, Electrical, Instrumentation, Automation, Process Engineering and Safety, HVAC, and Telecommunications.

This integration is essential to ensure the coordination and consistency of engineering solutions and the alignment of interfaces between the different disciplines, supporting the consistent development of the deliverables defined in the contract.

Key services include a consistency review of the remaining design documentation, as well as the preparation and completion of the detailed engineering design, including 2D and 3D models, point clouds and As-Built documentation.

Engineering for a Remaining Project Scope

One of the main challenges of the project is working with a remaining engineering scope. This type of assignment requires a detailed and integrated review of the existing documentation, as well as an understanding of the various interfaces that have already been established within the project.

In this context, Intertechne’s experience in large-scale industrial projects contributes to structuring the work around the specific characteristics of an existing project with an established history, documentation and interfaces that need to be incorporated into the development of new engineering solutions.

From a management perspective, multidisciplinary coordination and interface management with the different parties involved are also key factors in the successful progress of the contract.

Integration and Digital Tools

Another important aspect of the execution will be the integrated use of digital engineering tools and methodologies, with models and documents managed and developed within a collaborative environment.

These resources help organize project information, facilitate integration among disciplines and support the coordination and clash resolution of engineering solutions throughout the detailed design process.

The combination of technology, structured processes and experience in large-scale industrial projects enables the team to manage a significant volume of information and interfaces, supporting greater consistency and reliability in the project deliverables.

A New Area of Activity for Intertechne

The contract represents an important step for Intertechne, strengthening its presence in the fertilizer industry and expanding its involvement in major industrial projects.

The project also adds to the company’s experience in assignments involving remaining engineering scopes, where the ability to understand the project’s history, integrate different disciplines and consolidate existing information is essential to the development of engineering solutions.

Over the coming months, activities will focus on team mobilization, operational planning, and the consistency review of the existing documentation and remaining design, establishing the foundations for the subsequent stages of the contract.
