Intertechne is developing the detailed design for a 147.9 MWp project in Peru, expanding its operations in the renewable energy sector across Latin America and strengthening its international presence in large-scale photovoltaic power generation projects.
The scope includes, among other activities, the development of detailed designs for drainage, earthworks, foundations and access roads. Approximately 15% of the project has been completed to date, with a focus on defining execution criteria and preparing quantity take-offs to support material procurement. The next stages will involve further development of the detailed designs to support field activities.
The project presents specific challenges related to the region’s desert conditions. High ambient and soil temperatures require engineering solutions that differ from those typically adopted in Brazil, particularly to optimize electrical cable sizing and the use of civil construction materials.
Local Considerations
To address local conditions, Intertechne’s team has developed technical solutions focused on the project’s efficiency and feasibility. One of these solutions is the use of cable trays for cable routing, avoiding direct installation on the ground and reducing impacts on electrical sizing. Another relevant solution is the use of steel piles for the foundations of electrical centers, replacing conventional concrete structures, which have higher costs and more limited availability in the region.
Due to the regional characteristics, all civil structures were designed considering the seismic loads applicable to the project site.
The project integrates civil and electromechanical engineering disciplines, demonstrating Intertechne’s multidisciplinary capabilities in the development of complex energy infrastructure projects.
In addition to its technical relevance, the project is aligned with major global trends in the power sector, including the acceleration of the energy transition, the expansion of utility-scale solar generation, the diversification of energy mixes and growing demand for low-carbon solutions, contributing to the development of a more sustainable and resilient energy system.
Renewable Generation Expansion
According to sector specialists, photovoltaic power is expected to continue playing a strategic role in the expansion of renewable generation in Latin America over the coming decades, driven by the region’s high solar potential, declining technology costs, and the growing need for energy security and decarbonization.
For Intertechne, the project has additional strategic importance as it represents the company’s second project in Peru. The work consolidates experience gained in international markets, expands the company’s portfolio in renewable generation and strengthens its role as an engineering partner for highly complex projects across different regulatory, environmental and construction contexts.
